December 1
1 December 2008 in UncategorizedHello dear friends and family. I am so sorry that I have been so long off the blogging scene. I have enjoyed reading blogs and getting caught up with so many of your lives over the past two weeks, since getting home from the hospital.
For those who may not have heard whats been happening around here, here goes! I have really had a difficult fall, just never really feeling good, even on the “good days”. Then I started just bleeding at random times throughout the day out of my nose, sometimes it would last up to 6 hours. This became very frustrating very fast. The doctors could not figure it out. Finally, I had bled so much I needed a blood transfusion, and I knew it. I felt as though I was going to pass out and had sever nausea. Little Braedon did so good that day, he called daddy at work and told him that mommy was very sick and needed him home. Daddy came right home and to the ER we went. We are so proud of Braedon. My exciting new friend from days gone by-MIchelle Stetler-has been such a blessing through this whole deal-came and got Braedon and Tom stayed with me for awhile and all seemed to be going well. Little did he know what he would walk into the next morning. I went septic over the night. For those who are not medically minded, that means infection in the blood through the whole body. From that restless horrible night I have no memory of what happened until two weeks later. So this is what I have been told. Tom called my mom and dad, who came immediately. The doctors started treatment, but I reacted to everything they tried in some awful way. Finally, the hematologist said “there’s one more thing that we can try -Rituxin- but if she doesn’t respond well to this she will be gone”. My family and friends gathered around and began to pray. Two weeks ago this past Sunday things started to turn around. Braedon had once again had one of his little prayers answered. Saturday night when Tom was leaving the hospital Braedon noticed the little chapel down in the atrium, he wanted to stop and pray one more time for mommy. Tom said that he said “Dear God we know You have to come”, then he was done and ready to go home. I got through the treatment and woke up and began remembering again that Sunday.
After 21 days in ICU I have finally made it home. I have a ways to go in getting completely back on the road again, but are Thankful for the progress each day. I must go for today, but will blog about Thanksgiving tomorrow.
