September 18
18 September 2009 in UncategorizedI am sorry it has been so long since I have blogged. I guess this past summer went alittle off plan about July 3rd, and we just now are returning to a somewhat normal schedual. Wow what a journey it has been. Thinking back to the beginning and trying to blog it is almost overwhelming, so I’ll just give a brief overview.
We spent a wonderful week in our favorite “Colorado” the last week in June. What a wonderful time visiting all our friends and making more memories. Memories to go back to many times over the trying times that laid ahead at that point. Kendra and Matt”s wedding was just so great. Braedon did a good job as ring bearer. He also got to play for hours in the old neighborhood with Kelsey and the crew. He still miss that. We arrived home on June 30th. July 1st I did a big shopping at Sam’s to prepare for the 4th celebration with Tom’s family. I felt alittle off, but just chucked it up to jet lag. By July 2nd evening I had a fever, took tylenol and went to bed. After a fitful night we got up at four to do dialysis, I had a fever of 103.9. Two hours later I was delusional and had 105.9 fever. Tom got Braedon ready and me in the car and off we started on our adventure.
After testing it was determined that I had developed a massive infection in my blood. My dialysis cathere was pulled and strong IV antibiotics were started. All was responding well unyil it was time to place a new dialysis cathere to go home with. At that point they needed to put me on Heparin. Within hours my blood count went nuts and I had two massive hemmorages. One into my abdomen, approximately 8 pints, then during the CT Scan to assess that bleed, I had another bleed out into my right leg. This one has caused paralysis of the quadracept musles in that leg. I now walk with a cane and have a limp, bad at times. More than anything it has slowed me down alot. My hospital stay totaled 1 day short of 6 weeks. 4 of those weeks in ICU. We are so thankful for good insurance. God has blessed us so much and I do want to praise Him for His presence in our lives guiding us through. I am sorry to stop maybe alittle short, but I’ll be back soon to continue the story.
